Summary:
The Perioperative Nursing Residency/Fellowship is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary for a nursing career in the operating room. This course includes didactic materials and clinical experiences to prepare competent, entry-level, perioperative registered nurses.
Our Perioperative 101 Training Program is a 6 month paid training program. Upon successful completion of the training program, the employee will be naturally progressed to a Operating Room Registered Nurse Position at Presbyterian Hospital.
A perioperative nurse is a registered nurse (R.N.) who works in the operating room. Sometimes called a surgical or an operating room nurse, this specialized nurse cares for patients during surgery.
In the operating room, the perioperative nurse may serve as a scrub nurse, selecting and passing instruments and supplies used for the operation, or as a circulating nurse managing the overall nursing care in the operating room and helping to maintain a safe, comfortable environment.

Credentials: Registered Nurse - State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License required. BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
Education: Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience: Previous experience working in the OR preferred. Previous Surgical Tech experience highly preferred.
