Overview

Now hiring a Hospital Operation Tech.

 

Summary:

The Hospital Operations Tech will function as a multi-skilled resource for the facility by performing job functions in the Patient Transport, EVS, and Dietary Departments. As such, the Hospital Operations Tech will maintain competency in the basic functions of each department and be deployed to those areas as operationally necessary. Day to day tasks will include:

  • Transport of patients between clinical and non-clinical departments and nursing units.
  • Transport of patients needing admission, surgical and procedural services, inter-unit department transfers, or discharge from facility.
  • Provide observation and companionship to appropriate hospitalized patient.
  • Assist and provide basic ADLs as appropriate and directed.
  • Provide general support for the operation of a nursing department including assuring availability of supplies and equipment pertaining to transport.
  • Oversees the patient tray delivery system and feeding which includes meals, floor stock, nourishment, and the monitoring of physicians diet order with food items prepared.
  • Participates in general food preparation and cooking for hospital patients, personnel and visitors.
  • Cleans and services hospital area to ensure the safety, health, and morale of patients visitors and employees, and of patients recovery by helping provide a clean, attractive, and safe environment.

Qualifications

  • Less than 1 year experience in related role such as food service, customer service, healthcare, or healthcare.
  • Current BLS certification (may be initially obtained during new hire training).
  • Receives on-the-job training and competency verification to perform primary functions.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to EVS, Patient Transport, and Dietary policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and to meet our standards for sanitation, quality, safety, environment of care, and infection control.
  • Responsible for effective and compassionate communication between patients, families, and internal departments to uphold our CARES commitments and deliver Presbyterians Promise of compassionate, safe, high-quality care.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all healthcare information.
  • Perform basic clerical duties such as answering phones, printing, and handling.
  • Participate as an active team member in a highly physical role.
  • Maintain Dietary Department standards by performing tasks including, but not limited to:
    • Maintain department records, reports, and files as required such as temperature logs, sanitation logs, refrigeration logs, production records, late tray reports, and others.
    • Operate dishwasher to ensure all dishes and utensils are clean.
    • Participate in assembly and delivery of patient/customer meals in accordance with established criteria and procedures.
  • Maintain EVS Department standards by performing tasks including, but not limited to:
    • Operates housekeeping mechanical equipment.
    • Removes waste and soiled linens from work area according to proper procedure.
    • Performs cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares room for next occupant; follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms.
  • Maintain Patient Transport Department standards by performing tasks including, but not limited to:
    • Retrieve, store and transport oxygen cylinders according to hospital policy.
    • Follows assigned priority as directed for admission, discharge, surgical, and procedural services and transfer activity via correct mode of transport to include but not limtied to: Wheelchairs, stretchers/gurney, bed and bariatric bed.
    • Assist with patient transfers from hospital units to other units in and out of facility.
    • Utilize automated processes within the bed tracking system to notify PCC of patient activity and work closely with PCC on patient flow and effective facility movement.
    • Assist with mobility and ambulation as needed for patient transport purposes .
    • Locate and transport equipment as requested by clinical staff. .
  • Other duties as assigned.
