Focus on ensuring positive patient experience through provision of high touch compassionate, patient centered care that includes regular rounding, room refreshing, and attention to personal cares at bedtime with the use of focused communication techniques. This role builds on a foundation of creating and maintaining personal connections and relationships through shared responsibility, trust, and excellent communication with a goal of minimizing anxiety and reducing suffering. Summary of Minor Duties: Performs specific patient care duties of an Inpatient Nurse Technician (443200133) under the direction of a licensed Nurse and/or performs specific support procedures for the operation of a Nursing or Clinical Department if competency based orientation is completed

Ideal Candidate:

Nursing student who has completed a basic clinical skills lab preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma/ GED
  • Nursing student who has completed a basic clinical skills lab preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant or military equivalent; or at least 6 months hospital or long-term care experience in a similar role

 

Responsibilities

  • Rounds on patients and families frequently to assess and address personal needs, concerns or comfort related issues. Reports information to responsible nurse for resolution when necessary.
  • Focuses on enhancement of comfort measures of patients
  • Assists with patients that require extra attention or service recovery
  • Validates patient and family understanding of areas of communication board within their scope of responsibility
  • Participates in the nutritional well being of patients through tray delivery, assistance with patient set-up and feeding. Accurately records input and output.
  • Assists with activities of comfort in preparation for a restful night of sleep while in the hospital.
  • Applies oxygen delivery devices as ordered without altering settings or determining rates. Assists patients with portable or wall oxygen, and assures proper storage of E cylinders.
  • Assist with application and removal of restraints under the direction of an RN.
  • Documents all care provided in the appropriate place in the patient record. Uses the computerized documentation system at the skill level commensurate with the responsibilities included in this description.
  • Delivers specimens to Laboratory, Microbiology and Pathology.
  • Insures cleanliness of patient room and associated areas; includes removal of trash, soiled linens and excessive equipment not in use. Provides for a safe environment.
  • Stocks medical supplies, linens and paper goods. Processes broken equipment as directed.
  • Communicates information pertinent to the end of shift summation before leaving the unit.
  • Performs specific patient care under the direction of licensed professional nurse as training specific to unit with appropriate competency based orientation completed.
  • Performs other functions as required.
