Overview

Presbyterian is seeking a Diabetes Educator to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients between 0- 18 years in an Outpatient Clinic.  The Diabetes Educator is responsible for teaching and learning all about type 1 and type 2 diabetes and Pediatric Nutrition. This position has the opportunity to grow and develop skills with diabetes technology and working with an interdisciplinary team. 

  

Type of Opportunity: Full Time (1.0 FTE/40 hours per week)

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8-hour days

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition and clinical dietetics (NM Dietetics RD license required).
  • Certified Diabetes Educator Certification required.
  • Three to five years’ experience in nutrition, preferably in a community or clinic setting, and diabetes education experience
  • Registered Dietitian
  • Certified Diabetes Educator
  • BLS Certification required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, plans, and implements a multicultural diabetes skills education program.
  • Educates, assesses, and promotes self-care and wellness in the diabetic population.
    *Coordinates care with Endocrinologists & local physicians and markets program to physicians.
  • Advertises program and provides education in all aspects of diabetes.
  • Collaborates with other community resources and programs
  • Other duties as required
