Presbyterian is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients in an Outpatient Clinic. Common responsibilities include preparing the patient for the visit, maintaining efficient patient flow, assisting the provider with treatments and procedures, medication administration, support for clerical functions to include scheduling, referrals, authorization and in-basket support with the EMR.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8 hour days.

This position is eligible for the Northern New Mexico differential of $4.00 per hour. (This differential may be adjusted or discontinued based on business requirements.)
Perform medical assistant procedures within scope and under provider supervision
Prepare patients for exams; administer medications and immunizations
Assist with wound care, dressing changes, suture/staple removal, and office procedures
Collect and process lab specimens; provide basic patient education
Maintain sterile environments and support aseptic techniques
Contribute to onboarding of new Medical Assistants; conduct regulatory audits as needed
Participate in clinical visit closure and team-based patient care
Perform scribe duties after completing approved training
Manage exam room inventory via Kanban system; assist with supply ordering
Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and compliant environment
Support clerical functions, including phone messages and scheduling
Monitor provider schedules and manage rescheduling of no-shows
Handle prior authorizations, specialist referrals, and form tracking (e.g., FMLA, Advance Directives)
Communicate patient updates to providers clearly and professionally
Initiate telephone encounters and manage test result notifications
Support quality improvement initiatives and clinical performance goals
Uphold infection prevention and regulatory standards
Apply CARES principles through collaboration, accountability, respect, engagement, and service
Serve as point-of-care trainer and operate clinical equipment safely and effectively
Demonstrate excellent customer service and strong interpersonal communication
Work with interdisciplinary teams to meet clinic and patient care needs
