Overview

The Surgical Tech II provides assistance and support to surgeons by preparing and providing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures in the Operating Room. Works under the supervision of the surgeon. Facilitates a safe, effective and orderly operating room to maximize patient safety.
Follows approved infection control, quality assurance, and department policies and procedures related to the cleaning, decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instruments, trays, packs, and reusable medical devices for all hospital departments and PMG clinics.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Graduate of surgical technician certification from an accredited school or training program required
  • Sterile Processing Certification preferred
  • Current BLS required
  • Familiarity with all surgical instruments and equipment
  • Working knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique. Minimum of one years experience in a hospital operating room or outpatient operating room setting.
  • One year experience in sterile processing environment, hospital or clinic (medical or veterinary) required
