Overview

 

Presbyterian seeking a Polysomnography Tech Lead to guide our dynamic sleep lab team in delivering cutting-edge diagnostics and compassionate care. The lead provides functional guidance to Polysomnographic Technicians and Technologists in the Sleep lab. Assists with precepting, shift coverage and inventory duties. In addition to performing all duties of the Polysomnographic Technologist, this position monitors nightly workflow, serves as a liaison between team members, management and providers, resolving routine matters for the shift. Provides support in keeping the lab flowing efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • Requires registration as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).
  • 4 or more years of Polysomnographic Technologist experience.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of polysomnographic testing, scoring practices and procedures associated with an accredited sleep disorders center.
  • Requires the ability to operate complex equipment, which includes the ability to recognize defective operation and perform troubleshooting or repairs to equipment.
  • Requires the ability to lead and navigate staff through a backup process during a downtime.
  • Requires the ability to recognize defects in the record caused by movement, loose electrodes and local interference.
  • Requires independent judgment based on thorough knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures
  • Requires effective communication skills, computer skills, technical adaptability and the ability to work without direct supervision.
    Requires the ability to handle discretionary information.

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for escalation of business, performance and behavioral concerns to the appropriate level of Management.
  • Responsible for nightly tech assignments.
  • Responsible for sleep study report assignments.
  • Responsible for sleep study over scoring requests.
  • Responsible for sign off on nutrition station, blanket warmer, storage room, walk through clean/dirty U and control room.
  • Par level maintenance.
  • Provides a charge report for the shift. Any tickets put in for the night, issues with patients, security issues, housekeeping issues, equipment issues, extra duties that were done.
  • Shift Huddles- Help w/ moral boost, communication updates.
  • Provides sleep lab training for all lab staff upon being hired.
  • Provides education during quarterly staff meetings around AASM Accreditation & Joint Commission readiness.
  • Responsible for lab quality assurance and quality control.
  • Assist providers with research projects.
  • Requires demonstratable leadership skills and experience including effective delegation, conflict management, teambuilding, motivation of self and others, and problem-solving.
  • Must participate and complete leadership courses through Talent Development to include Crucial Conversations and Crucial Accountability
  • Any other duties as assigned.
