Presbyterian is seeking a Patient Visit Specialist.
In this position, you will coordinate patient care and ensure an exceptional patient experience, schedule specialty and radiologic procedures, obtain prior authorizations, certifications, and referrals as required by payors, process daily referral workqueues for authorization, deferring only those needing payor consideration, handle STAT and ASAP referral workqueues for Primary and Specialty Care offices, scrub schedules for accuracy and efficiency, and monitor in-baskets and reports for overdue results, waitlisted appointments, and recalls.

This position is eligible for the Northern New Mexico differential of $4.00 per hour. (This differential may be adjusted or discontinued based on business requirements.)
Achieve exceptional patient experience by using CARES, AIDET, and EPE tools
Resolve complaints in the moment with appropriate language and escalation
Manage conflict and request supervisory assistance when necessary
Maintain effective patient-provider-public relations through attentive listening and response
Round with waiting patients to ensure comfort and communicate delays
Follow clinician orders in EHR accurately
Schedule return visits and diagnostic tests, including STAT & ASAP orders
Obtain prior authorization and referrals per payer requirements
Validate MyChart access and print AVS with attention to HIPAA compliance
Collect backend patient balances and communicate scheduling restrictions to clinicians
Refer uninsured patients to the Financial Advocacy Center or on-site advocate as appropriate
Ensure all authorizations/referrals are secured before procedures and alert stakeholders if not
Create accurate telephone encounter messages and route appropriately in Epic
Educate patients on the Release of Information process and ensure complete ROI forms
Understand the link between quality service, satisfaction, and reimbursement
Contribute to telephone metric goals including TSF and abandonment rate
Conduct confirmation calls with visit-specific directions and instructions
Respond swiftly to patients in distress and follow clinic guidelines for team support
Maintain cleanliness and organization in patient-accessible areas
Report safety concerns promptly and complete annual Code Blue competency
Make appointment reminder and rescheduling calls as needed
Review and optimize provider schedules to improve efficiency
