Presbyterian is seeking a Sterile Processing Team Lead, you’re the behind-the-scenes powerhouse who ensures surgical instruments and medical equipment are meticulously cleaned, assembled, sterilized, and delivered with precision. Working primarily in the Sterile Processing Department, you follow infection control and quality assurance protocols with an unwavering commitment, transforming high-risk tools into safe, ready-to-use assets that directly impact patient care across operating rooms, inpatient nursing units, and clinics. With keen attention to detail and mastery over decontamination and sterilization processes—including GI scope handling—you set the tone for safety and efficiency.
Beyond the technical expertise, you command inventory flow and orchestrate the maintenance and repair of vital equipment, always ensuring the OR is well-stocked and downtime is minimal. You bring deep equipment knowledge, organizational prowess, and leadership finesse to a high-stakes environment where consistency isn’t just valued—it’s life-saving. Your work echoes in every successful procedure, making you a cornerstone of surgical excellence.

This position is eligible for the Northern New Mexico differential of $4.00 per hour. (This differential may be adjusted or discontinued based on business requirements.)
*High school diploma or GED required
*Has advanced skills and expertise in Sterile Processing work processes and activities with a minimum of 1 year experience required.
Current Sterile Processing certification (CSPDT) from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) from the International Association of Healthcare Central *Service Materials Management (IAHCSMM).
And
Certified Surgical Instrument Specialist (CSIS) or Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or from IAHCSMM (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) required within 6 months of hire.

Performs job functions of a Tech III with advanced technical proficiency
Coordinates workflows and staff tasks daily, acting as team lead without direct supervision responsibilities
Operates independently and within protocols to ensure safe instrument decontamination and sterilization
Assembles, wraps, and sterilizes medical trays and scopes with precision and efficiency
Assesses and triages daily issues, escalating when necessary to protect patient safety
Serves as a go-to resource for staff, providing guidance and answering operational questions
Executes special projects assigned by leadership with professionalism and focus
Contributes insights for staff evaluations and procedural improvements within the department
Verifies proper function of sterilization, washing, and decontamination equipment
Monitors chemical and biological solutions to maintain high disinfection standards
Maintains accurate sterilization records according to departmental policies
Ensures instrument and scope availability for OR, clinics, and other patient care areas
Communicates and coordinates equipment needs across multiple departments
Manages instrument repair processes, including maintenance scheduling and ordering replacements
Completes missing instrument sets proactively to prevent surgical delays
Assigns staff workload based on daily demand and monitors progress throughout shifts
Adjusts team focus during peak and slow periods for optimal department flow
Participates in orientation and training of new staff while reviewing procedures with coordinators
Prioritizes and directs daily work processes in collaboration with education specialists
Demonstrates clear, professional communication and contributes positively to team culture
Upholds strong personal accountability and adheres to posted work schedules reliably
