Presbyterian is seeking a Rehab Tech / Scheduler. This role is centered around delivering an exceptional patient experience for every case, with a strong emphasis on accuracy in scheduling and coordination across a multi-disciplinary specialty. It involves verifying that all prior authorizations, certifications, and referrals are completed before treatment begins, while also providing non-clinical education to patients and their families. Responsibilities include managing admission paperwork when needed, maintaining cleanliness and basic upkeep of the Rehab Department, and assisting therapists with patient care and departmental duties. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support the department’s operations.

This position is eligible for the Northern New Mexico differential of $4.00 per hour. (This differential may be adjusted or discontinued based on business requirements.)
Achieve exceptional patient experience using CARES, AIDET, and EPE tools
Address and attempt to resolve complaints using key words at key times
Manage conflict and seek supervisor assistance when needed
Round with waiting patients to ensure comfort and communicate delays
Perform patient scheduling and validate accurate demographics
Set expectations for prior authorization, referrals, and out-of-pocket expenses
Meet one-on-one with patients to schedule invasive procedures
Advise patients and families on non-clinical instructions
Build and maintain positive relationships with other departments and personnel
Follow scheduling protocols including assigned block time
Assist therapists and assistants with patient care and departmental duties
Perform patient care procedures under licensed clinician guidance
Demonstrate understanding of growth and development across patient lifespan
Prioritize tasks and escalate concerns appropriately
Understand indications, contraindications, and effects of rehab modalities
Possess basic knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy relevant to rehab
Refer patients to Financial Advocate or Financial Advocacy Center as appropriate
Validate prior authorization, certification, and referral before procedures
Alert stakeholders if breakdowns occur in authorization process
Formulate accurate messages and route to appropriate Epic in-basket pool or staff
Instruct patients on Release of Information process and ensure completed forms are submitted
Understand connection between quality service, patient satisfaction, and reimbursement
Perform confirmation calls with directions and instructions based on visit type
Respond quickly to patients in distress and alert clinical team as directed
Maintain clean and organized clinic, checkout, waiting areas, and walkways
Report any safety concerns
Responsible for basic cleaning and upkeep of Rehab Department
Make appointment reminder calls and handle rescheduling
Evaluate provider schedules and take action to ensure accuracy and efficiency
Collaborate with clinicians and management to optimize scheduling
Support development of new programs with a positive attitude
Participate in environmental rounding
Restock rooms and gym area with linens and supplies
Maintain routine service logs for department equipment
Monitor supply inventory, check expiration dates, and place orders as needed
May perform timekeeping duties
Perform other duties as assigned
