Overview


Summary:
Responsible for the repair, service, and maintenance of the electrical system. To plan, coordinate control, and perform, Facility Maintenance operations and provide for an uninterrupted flow of utilities based upon existing design criteria. Major emphasis shall be placed upon preventative and predictive maintenance. The Electrician shall be capable of working with little or no supervision, and limited direction from specialized trades.

Qualifications

Other information:
*High school diploma or GED required.

*NM Journeyman Boiler Operator License (B02) required.

*Underground Storage Tank Operator (UST) or Above Ground Storage Tank Operator (AST) certification required. At minimum, class C is required. Class A/B is preferred.

*3 to 5 years of maintenance work experience and the ability to perform general maintenance duties as assigned, preferably in Healthcare industry.

*Must have a valid NM drivers license and be insurable.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
*Calibrates electrical and pneumatic control systems.

*Makes repairs on Steam Boilers, reciprocating pneumatic and medical air compressors, vacuum pumps, circulating and fuel pumps, water softeners, steam heat exchangers, freezers, ice machines, dishwashers, garbage disposals, washing machines, clothes dryers, exhaust fans, air handling units, and other equipment as necessary.

*Performs minor electrical work, boiler water analyses and boiler water treatment for good safety and operational care.

*Performs minor adjustments and checks Bio-Medical and patient care equipment for proper and safe operations.

*Performs installations and repairs of electrical circuits and other generally accepted electrical jobs.

*Ability to use electrical test equipment and hand tools appropriately to perform work.

*Perform Preventative maintenance procedures, on fixtures and equipment within a predetermined Zone in a timely manner as prescribed in Facility Services Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

*Primary responsibility and accountability for performing repairs, lubrication, and adjustment on all hospital equipment as to ensure a comfortable and safe environment.

*Prioritization of tasks and methods with a great deal of independence to operate within established PHS and Facility Services policies, procedures, and schedules.

*Evaluate and monitor the performance of building and utility systems in assigned Zones.

*Know, understand, and adhere to PHS and Department Policies and Procedures

*Constantly improve technical knowledge and skills through participation in educational programs and in-service meetings.

*Understand department operating budget and suggest methods to assure that operations are within budget. Develop plans and recommendations to reduce maintenance costs within the department.

*Serve as a resource to departments within Zone in facility maintenance operations.

*Support organizational visions, values, and strategies

*Periodic rounds in assigned areas

*Ability to read and interpret blueprints, codes, and other associated documents to complete jobs

*Perform routine and urgent maintenance requests

*Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
